About Our Chapter
On March 28, 1992, Kappa Sigma paved the way for Greek Life at the University of Texas at Dallas by founding the Nu-Omicron Chapter, the first fraternity on campus. Since then, Brothers of Nu-Omicron have become leaders in campus-shaping organizations including Student Government, Interfraternity Council, Peer Advisers, and Orientation Team Mentors.
Our chapter has earned recognition as both Intramural and Greek Week Champions. The University has recognized Kappa Sigma as Student Organization of the Year a record four times in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2003, and UTD has presented our chapter with other awards as well.
We consistently donate over 3,000 hours of community service annually and last year appeared twice in the pages of the Dallas Morning News in recognition of our various service efforts.
The Pillars of Kappa Sigma
The Brothers of Kappa Sigma strive to live daily according to the four Pillars of Kappa Sigma—Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service—always keeping our common goal of becoming better men in focus.
-
Fellowship
Want to get more from your college life? Kappa Sigma makes it happen. Joining Kappa Sigma provides opportunities for fellowship, fun, and personal growth that you simply cannot get elsewhere. Over 230,000 men have joined and enjoyed the unmatched experiences, involvement and lifelong Brotherhood that Kappa Sigma offers. The goal of Kappa Sigma Fraternity is no secret... to build better men!
-
Leadership
Take the lead. In Kappa Sigma, Brothers become involved in their communities and take the lead when something needs to be done. Countless Brothers from senators to scientists to CEOs have said Kappa Sigma gave them the leadership skills necessary to succeed.
-
Scholarship
You're in college to get an education. Kappa Sigma helps you excel in the classroom. From its earliest beginnings in Renaissance Italy in 1400 A.D., Kappa Sigma Fraternity has existed to promote scholarship in its members. At the chapter level, Brothers will help you learn about the campus, provide advice on professors and classes, and help you study for those important assignments.
Over $300,000 is awarded each year by the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund to Brothers who excel in the areas of scholarship and leadership.
-
Service
Helping others is part of being a Kappa Sigma. Brothers volunteer thousands of hours working in their communities and raise thousands of dollars for worthy causes each year. From organizing park clean-ups to serving as Big Brothers to organizing charity rock concerts, Kappa Sigmas work hard for their causes. College is fun, but only service gives you the great feeling of knowing you've helped someone and made a difference.
